Treasured Midwifery is a homebirth midwifery practice in Phoenix, Arizona.
Our team is an intentionally selected group of like-minded women who are passionate about walking alongside women during their transformation into motherhood. We aim to educate and empower women to have a peaceful, natural birth in the comfort of their own home. Our team is especially intentional about serving families thoroughly in the postpartum season knowing so many mothers and families can fall through the cracks here.
Treasured Midwifery operates with a two midwife rotation. Our midwives Madeline and Ashley, have a rotating schedule that alternates between attending births and going to prenatal and postpartum appointments. This gives our clients the ability to have security with their appointments knowing we won’t need to reschedule every time there is a birth during their scheduled appointment and also allows our clients the opportunity to build a strong relationship with both providers. Most importantly, this model ensures there will always be a well-rested midwife available to our clients who is able to be fully present for them prenatally, in labor and birth, and in the postpartum period.
Our entire team - midwives, birth assistants, and student midwives - love Jesus deeply. This is important to us and having a team of believers is a gift we are grateful for everyday. Each team member is able to use their unique skills, education, and experience to provide our families exceptional love, attention, and care to create a beautiful and safe pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience.

Meet the Midwives

Madeline Judd CPM, LM
Midwife
Madeline is a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) through the North American Registry of Midwives and is a Licensed Midwife (LM) in the state of Arizona. Growing up she always had an interest in healthcare and had initially pursued a nursing degree at Northwest University. In the years following she worked in geriatric care specializing in dementia and memory care but she had a change of heart about a career in nursing after experiencing some of the brokenness of the medical system from the inside. This unrest in her spirit eventually led her to an international midwifery program in Hawaii through the Global Organization of Midwives. She began her midwifery training here in 2018 with a heart to serve mamas and families overseas and has never looked back!
Madeline spent the following 2 years in Hawaii working for a homebirth practice with the founder of the program she attended while finishing her schooling online. She then made her way to Ecuador where she worked at a dynamic birth and wellness center in early 2020 and through the height of COVID. With tensions rising and the border closing she had to cut her time short there and ended up landing in California just in time to help deliver her nephew. She then stayed and worked at a birth center in California for a season before moving to Arizona in 2021 and settling in a beautiful homebirth practice here.
Going from the standardized world of nursing protocols to the beautiful world of collaborative, holistic, and mother-led care in the midwifery model immediately felt like a perfect fit for Madeline. Being able to walk alongside families through such a transformative year is always an honor and a joy for her. She especially loves the relational aspect of the midwifery model of care and believes that all healthcare should be collaborative in nature. Madeline is passionate about education and believes that true informed consent means having information that is being used for you and not against you so that you can make the best decision for your family and your baby.
Her philosophy about birth is rooted in the fact that she believes birth was intelligently, intentionally, and intricately designed and that the less we interfere with the process, the more we see it work. However, she also believes that in order to be a good steward of the responsibility she has been blessed with, providers need to use their skills and training to tune their ear for when the body communicates that it may need a little more help. She is so grateful for her relationship with the Lord who is always directing her steps.
Madeline received her Placenta Encapsulation Certification in 2019 and has since encapsulated hundreds of placentas. She is very passionate about the postpartum period and in 2023 pursued a certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International so that she can thoroughly identify and support families affected by postpartum mental health challenges. Madeline is a registered preceptor with the North American Registry of Midwives and stays current with her Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications for healthcare providers. Madeline has been blessed to attend well over 700 births and is so excited to see how the Lord will continue to use her in the future. When she’s not attending births she loves being with her family and being outside. She loves skiing, hiking, camping, traveling, and going to concerts and sports games.

Ashley Wilcox CPM, LM
Midwife
Ashley is a certified professional midwife (CPM) through the North American registry of Midwives as well as an Arizona licensed midwife (LM). She began her journey into the world of midwifery in 2019 when she moved to the Philippines where she spent 3 years as a student midwife serving in a birthing center for impoverished families. It was during this season that she fell in love with the midwifery model of care.
Ashley’s favorite part of midwifery care is knowing and loving women well. This care model creates space to build a deep relationship based on trust, evidence based care, and friendship.
Pregnancy is such a beautiful season, it is her honor and joy to walk with women through the celebrations and hardship that pregnancy, and life can hold.
She believes in God’s wonderful and intricate design for birth — what a beautiful example of Christ women have been gifted to walk through, to lay down your comfort to bring a new life into the world. It is her hope and intention to help women give birth having confidence in their body’s ability and being surrounded by love and support.
Ashley is a graduate of both Newlife International School of Midwifery and National College of Midwifery. Throughout the last 6 years she’s had the privilege of attending over 400 deliveries. She is a certified preceptor with the North American Registry of Midwives and maintains a certificate with the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support for healthcare professionals, as well as a certificate with the American Academy of Pediatrics in neonatal resuscitation (AAP NRP).
When she is not serving families, Ashley loves to sew, hike, play board games, and volunteer at her church.
Meet the Team

Ashley Anders
Chief Operating Officer | Senior birth assistant
Ashley was born and raised in Arizona and currently resides in Gilbert with her husband Micah and their 3 kids, Tyler, Bennett, and Navy. Ashley and her family also have 2 golden retrievers that they love SO much! When Ashley isn't busy with our families, you'll find her hanging with friends and family, spending time on their boat, at the Pilates studio, or trying to catch up on sleep whenever she can.
Ashley started her journey in the birth world as a birth doula 12 years ago, after having her second baby. She always knew that supporting families in one of the most vulnerable times of their lives was something she wanted to do. Ashley feels that supporting women and families in "the 4th trimester" is just as important as prenatal care, so she trained with Newborn Care Solutions to certify as a newborn care specialist. She cared for multiple families including many sets of twins and triplets and quickly realized this was something she loved. Years later Ashley missed being in the birth space, and so she started birth assisting multiple midwives across the valley in the home setting.
For the last 5 years Ashley has been a Chief Operating Officer along with birth assisting for another midwifery company, and will continue to do so for Treasured Midwifery. She has worked alongside Madeline and Ashley for years and feels very blessed and excited to continue her career walking alongside them.

Emma Carlson RN
Student Midwife
Emma was born and raised in Arizona then moved to Washington State for about 10 years. There, she got married and graduated from nursing school. Her and her husband, Britt, then moved back down to Arizona, where she worked as a neuro/trauma nurse for a few years.
Her path to the birth world began far sooner—she attended her first homebirth while in high school and knew that’s where she would eventually end up! In January 2024, she birthed her first baby at home, an experience that further confirmed her calling to be a midwife. Shortly after her daughter, Ruby, was born, Emma began her training to become a Certified Professional Midwife.
By combining her nursing expertise with her passion for midwifery, Emma is dedicated to offering compassionate, evidence-based care that empowers families to feel confident and supported during one of life’s most transformative moments.

Nina Shdo RN
Birth Assistant
Nina moved to Arizona 4 years ago in search of sunshine and she is loving it! She was born and raised in the Seattle area and stuck around there until she transferred from UW to finish her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in SLC, Utah. For the last 5 years, she has worked as a registered nurse in pediatric and adult emergency departments. Being in the traditional medical field for so long (almost 10 years in total!), she found herself drawn to work with babies in a more wholistic setting; When she is not in the ER she loves working with AZ mamas with Treasured Midwifery and getting to dote on all the precious new babies!
Nina currently lives in Anthem with her husband Andrew, two rescue mutts, Mac and Stella, a giant tortoise and 9 chickens. They are currently expecting their first child.

Benjamin Williams
Owner
Benjamin Williams is a devoted husband and father of 5. Originally from Colorado, he relocated to Arizona over a decade ago to compete as a professional MMA fighter and has been in love with the sunshine and desert ever since! His past experiences in the professional sports world have transitioned to a passion for coaching others how to use their athletic experiences to grow exponentially in life. As a business owner, personal trainer, and motivational speaker/life coach his days are spent doing what he loves the most, pouring into people and helping them better themselves in all aspects of life. Ben’s heart for God and serving people is what drew him to his interest in midwifery care. After experiencing first-hand the love and care that the home birth midwives provided his wife, Heather, it became apparent that he wanted to also be involved in the birth community. Ben seeks to ensure that the families of the valley have every opportunity to have providers that seek out safe and empowered pregnancy and birth, so that they may experience the life-changing care his family had. He desires to use his business experiences to establish a healthy work-life balance for the birth workers, who graciously give so much of themselves to serve others. There is no greater gift in life than to further God’s kingdom and Ben truly believes the work of the birth community shouldn’t be undervalued for its impact on this community.\

Heather Williams
Owner
Heather Williams loves nothing more than being a wife and mother of her 5 children. From an early age, it was obvious that she would commit her life advocating for those who need it most. Her education and careers have varied from veterinary to pediatric nursing and midwifery, but her passion for helping the most vulnerable has remained constant. Her ability to care deeply for them in both the beautiful and difficult moments is what makes her so profoundly good at what she does. As a former pediatric ICU nurse, her passion for holistic healthcare grew in unexpected ways during the Covid epidemic. While she herself was pregnant, she witnessed the heartbreak at the hospital firsthand, and she began to explore the possibility of home birth for her 3rd child. It was during that time her perspective on pregnancy and birth began to change significantly. She found herself consumed with learning more and more about the beauty of pregnancy and uninterrupted birth. After a transfer to the hospital for induction of low amniotic fluid, she still had a triumphant and redemptive natural birth, with an entire team of support behind her. Her son’s birth showed her how truly cared for someone can feel during their pregnancy and birth. The moment her son was placed in her arms, she knew that God had intentionally put her on this journey and that her life would never be the same. Shortly after, Heather knew God’s path for her life and decided to go back to school to become a certified nurse midwife and women's health nurse practitioner. Three years and a redemptive home birth later, she can't wait to continue to learn as she pours her knowledge and experiences back into the birth community.
Currently, she's working as a hospital CNM in Surprise and is looking forward to supporting the home birth community by creating more access to well-women care and collaborative care among the entire birth community. Heather's passion for loving women and families is undeniable. Her hope is that she can impact women's health for decades to come by teaching women that they can be empowered and loved during the most vulnerable moments of their life. Heather hopes that she can begin bridging the gap between hospital and home birth providers to increase access to supportive and empowering care for all women.
